If I am reelected to a second term my focus will not change. I will:
• Serve as an anti-racist, fighting intolerance in our schools
• Ensure that equity drives our decision making
• Ensure universal student success
• Foster transparent and ethical processes at all levels
• Deepen genuine community engagement across the WCCUSD
We have lots more work to do to support our students and my professional financial background and experience will help us navigate these turbulent financial times. All students have the right to an excellent education that prepares them for college or a career — and I will keep fighting to make good on that promise to our students every day I am privileged to serve on the Board.
Every child deserves a quality education.
We have many amazing teachers and schools providing that every day. However, for too many of our students, that educational promise hasn’t yet been fulfilled. We need to continue deepening our support for teachers and students so all can excel.
I have lived in West County for more than 40 years, met my wife here, was married here, and my twin sons both went through WCCUSD schools. I saw personally how important it is that every student has schools that work for them. Both of my sons have special needs, and all told they attended 9 different district schools in order to make sure those needs were met.
When I retired from my role as Chief Financial Officer of a technology company, I began volunteering with incredible organizations across West County. I attended school board meetings and focused more on the school district, using my financial know-how to serve on the Community Budget Advisory Committee and then the Citizens Bond Oversight Committee – where I became the chair. After doing some soul-searching, I decided to run for the School Board in 2016 — and with amazing support from so many people in the community I was elected.
I have the deep roots, personal experience, and professional expertise to be a powerful advocate for making sure our schools work for all kids. I hope to have the opportunity to continue to serve the community I love.
